FAQ

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

I believe most people can benefit from therapy at some point in their life.

The times that are the biggest “red flags” are when you feel that your thoughts or feelings are “invading” your personal relationships or daily life/functioning. I am more than happy to talk that through with you on the phone.

Do you accept insurance? What forms of payment do you accept?

Currently, I am in network for SC Healthy Connections Medicaid, and accept self-pay and sliding scale clients. If I am not in network for your insurance plan, I am happy to provide a super bill to request reimbursement and use Mentaya software to you in that process.

Where are you located?

I am located in the Five Forks area of Greenville, tucked in the back of the Woodruff Place shopping center, at 205 Bryce Circle, Ste. C, Simpsonville, SC 29681. I will send you instructions before your first appointment on where to “go” when you walk in, and what to expect.

Is therapy confidential?

This is a vital part of the therapeutic relationship, and something we will discuss in depth at the first session. As we like to say in the therapy world, everything you say in here, “stays in here,” unless you want to hurt yourself or others, or if someone is hurting you, or unless you give me permission to connect with another trusted party.

What if I’m unsure what to talk about in therapy?

It is absolutely normal to feel worried about what to “bring to the session.”

It is my job to help ease those fears, and I will not leave you “hanging” without connection. I use an in-depth assessment to guide our conversation in our first appointment, and we create goals that will touch on different areas of your life. I will provide guidance and ask for your regular input on how our sessions are going.

How often will we meet?

How often we meet will be based on your life and needs. At the beginning, I will suggest either weekly or biweekly, as we need to have regular sessions together for me to both assess and begin to make progress. As we continue, we will discuss what works for you and how to maintain progress without interfering in your schedule.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?

You can always manage, cancel, or reschedule on my Client Portal, or you can call me at 864-331-9208 or email me at jennylee@leecounselinggreenville.com. I ask that you let me know within 24 hours of needing to cancel, or a missed appointment fine may be charged to you or your insurance.

What should I do if I ‘m experiencing a crisis between sessions?

If you or your child are experiencing a crisis, please don’t hesitate to reach out. While I do not provide 24/7 phone access, I will respond to you as soon as possible. If it is true emergency, go to the closest emergency services department or call 911, and let me know when it is safe that you are there. I will ensure that you get post-hospital sessions promptly. If you are struggling with thoughts of suicide, you can call or text 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at any time. If it is not an emergency, I respond to calls on weekdays within 24 hours.

How will I know if therapy is helping me?

Therapy is such an individualized process. It is not a “magic pill,” it is a comprehensive relational approach to rethink, process, and heal in the areas we are suffering. Sometimes, feelings come out “louder” or stronger when we first begin, and that is normal.

What can I do to get the most out of therapy?

Regular appointments are important. They don’t have to be weekly, but some kind of scheduled consistency has shown to have a much greater impact. If you wait to come when you, your relationship, or your child are in crisis, it will take more time for me to “dig” to figure out how to help you.
